POSITION AVAILABLE DAWSON COLLEGE (Cegep) MONTREAL



CLASSICAL HISTORY AND WESTERN CIVILIZATION



REQUIREMENTS: M.A. in History (Classical period); teaching experience at

the University or College level; computer literacy. 



Dawson College is the largest Cegep in Quebec (7500 students) with a joint

History/Classics department of 15. All Social Science students must take a

required introductory course in Western Civilization, so all the faculty

teaches approximately 50% of their workload in this course. A wide

selection of Classics courses is offered including: An Introduction to the

Classical World; The Roman Empire; Ancient Near East; and several more

specialized courses on Classical Mythology; Egypt, etc. This position is

being created by a retirement. 



Salary is dependent on academic degrees and previous teaching experience.

The salary scale is set by the Quebec Ministry of Education and is

competitive with university scales at the lower levels.
