We are saddened to report that Hugh MacLean passed away Friday, December 3 after a brief and
courageous battle with cancer. Hugh began his Classics teaching career at Mount Allison and
taught at Wilfrid Laurier University from1965 to his retirement in 1994. In the 60's and 70's he
was a long-serving treasurer of the Classical Association of Canada. He was Chair of the
Department of Classics at Wilfrid Laurier for many years. He was an enthusiastic and helpful
teacher to his students and a respected colleague among his fellow professors. We will miss him.
