TRENT UNIVERSITY, Department of Ancient History & Classics, invites

applications for a limited term appointment (either 8-month or 12-month) at

the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor, depending on qualifications

and teaching experience, to begin either July 1, 1999 or September 1, 1999.

The appointment is subject to budgetary approval. 



The successful candidate will be a generalist who will be expected to teach

undergraduate courses in Roman History, Art History and archaeology, and

Beginners' Greek language. 



The length of the term will be determined by the candidate's willingness to

repeat the art history-archaeology course one day a week in Oshawa (at the

University Centre at Durham) as part of his or her regular teaching load. 



Applicants, who should demonstrate both good teaching ability and potential

as scholars, should have a Ph.D. or be very near completion, and should
