You're about to announce a student conference in the Bulletin? A summer school in Tunisia? A scholarship?
If your announcement is aimed at students, take into consideration the fact that very few of them subscribe to the CCB. Calls and other announcements, to be effective, should be addressed to their instructors, or for their instructors to pass along to their students. Ideally, you should provide a link to a webpage or a poster that is easy to pass along.
::::::::: ::::::: ::::: ::: : ::: ::::: ::::::: :::::::::

PLAUTUS' PLAYS PERFORMED BY STUDENTS: SCENES ON YOUTUBE
From Maggie Rogow
Salvete amici,
Below are links to two YouTube videos of scenes from Plautus plays that I created with some graduates of my Classics program last summer. Most of the students featured distinguished themselves in skits, oral reading contests, live performances and audio-visual contests at the Ontario Student Classics Conference in recent years. I hope the videos will be useful and enjoyable for you and your students.
Mostellaria: Introduction to the plot, and the scene in which Theopropides returns home and Tranio explains that the door is locked and the house deserted because it is haunted. About 10 minutes long. In English verse translation by Arden Rogow-Bales.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7axEKFrVFbA
Amphitryo: Two scenes, plus narration and still photos to fill in the rest of the action. About 30 minutes long. Adapted from the English translation by E.F. Watling. Scenes:
1. Mercury's opening monologue explaining why he and Jupiter are disguised as Sosia and Amphitryo.
2. The scene in which Amphitryo and Sosia return from the harbour. They expect Alcmena to welcome them home after their long absence. However, she is shocked to see them return "so soon", since she has just said good-bye to Jupiter, who has spent the night with her in his Amphitryo disguise.
