Tyrosinemia: the Quebec experience


Fig. 1: Evaluation of the glomerular filtration rate (GFR) of children who received liver or liver-kidney transplants to treat tyrosinemia (each line represents the rate for one child.) GFR was evaluated by the diethylenetriamine penta-acetic acid method every 6 months after transplantation. The last measurement taken before each child's transplantation is shown at time 0 months. Although 25% of patients still had GFR for 80 mL/min per 1.73 m2 or less, their levels have remained stable for a mean of 36 months, and only three patients had levels less than 60 ml/min per 1.73 m2 after transplantation.
