Abstract
Alberta left physicians out in the cold when Premier Ralph
Klein's government began to
slash the province's health care budget. Frustrated and angered
at being excluded from
the restructuring of the province's health care system,
physicians rallied in protest,
and now have some input into the new regional health authorities,
at least in Edmonton
and Calgary. Still, some physicians who feel the restructuring is
an uncontrolled social
experiment have opted to leave for positions in the US.

L'Alberta a laissé tomber ses médecins lorsque le
gouvernement du premier
ministre Ralph Klein a commencé à sabrer dans le
budget de santé de
la province. Frustrés et en colère parce qu'ils ont
été exclus
de la restructuration du système de soins de santé
de la province, les
médecins se sont ralliés pour protester et peuvent
maintenant intervenir
dans les nouvelles administrations régionales de la
santé, du moins à
Edmonton et à Calgary. Il reste que certains
médecins qui estiment que la
restructuration constitue une expérience sociale sans
contrôle ont choisi
de partir pour les États-Unis.
