Dalhousie Medical Journal revived

After lying dormant for 26 years, the Dalhousie Medical Journal (DMJ) has been revived by students, residents and faculty members. Volume 23, No. 1 was published last November, a 52-page effort that featured editorials, letters, commentary, a history article, original research, a case report and a diagnostic challenge. The DMJ aims to provide an outlet for the dissemination of medical papers, to foster medical research among students and to encourage involvement in scientific publishing.

Dr. Bruce Squires, editor in chief of CMAJ, welcomed the revival of the journal, which was established in 1936 but suspended publication in 1969 for financial reasons. In a letter to the DMJ, he commended the editors and production staff for their foresight in structuring the journal to provide opportunities for students at all levels of training. He said this forward planning will help create a team to continue publication in the future.
