Physicians in the news
Canadian Medical Association Journal 1996; 154: 936
Dr. Marc A. Baltzan, Saskatoon, and pain specialist Ronald Melzack, Montreal, were among 53 Canadians invested in the Order of Canada at Ottawa's Rideau Hall last November. Melzack and Baltzan, who is a past president of the CMA, were both made officers in the order in recognition of their work in health care. A further 68 appointments were made in January, and the list included four more physicians who have been made officers of the order: Dr. Harvey Barkun, Rockcliffe, Ont., and Drs. Donald Baxter, Jean Davignon and Carroll Laurin, all of Montreal.
