Manitoba adjusts Pharmacare program

Manitoba says it has made significant changes to its Pharmacare program this year because of the reduction in transfer payments from the federal government. As of Apr. 1, Manitoba based its Pharmacare coverage on family income instead of age, with adjustments for spouses and dependent children. An annual deductible of 2% or 3% will apply, based on whether adjusted income is below or above $15 000; after the deductible is paid, applicants will receive 100% coverage for all eligible prescription drugs.
