Died Jan. 26, 2000, aged 86; survived by his wife, Bea, and 5 children. The Grande Prairie Herald-Tribune reported: "He was a cornerstone of the local medical community, well known for his kind bedside manner and generosity toward less fortunate patients. As recently as a year ago, he was assisting with surgeries."

Curran, Daniel D., Ottawa; National University of Ireland, 1943; general surgery; FACS, FRCS(Ed.), FRCSC; former staff, Ottawa General and Riverside hospitals; associate professor, University of Ottawa. Died Jan. 31, 2000, aged 79; survived by his wife, Mary, and children Dr. Nora, Mary and Anne.

Fitch, Maxwell, Salt Spring Island, BC; McGill University, 1943; public health; DPH, DIH, FRCPC; former public health director, special studies, Ontario Ministry of Labour, Toronto. Died May 11, 1999, aged 82.

Jacques, Paul E., Montréal (Qué.); Université de Montréal, 1947; omnipraticien; ancien membre du personnel de l'Hôpital Bellechasse. Décédé le 1er mars 1999, à l'âge de 77 ans; laisse un enfant.

Lim, Emilio C., Mont-Royal, Que.; University of the Philippines (Manila), 1962; general surgery; former surgical staff, Santa Cabrini and Hyppolite Lafontaine hospitals; attending surgeon, St-Luc Hospital; visiting consultant, Montreal Extended Care Centre; assistant professor, University of Montreal. Died Feb. 7, 2000, aged 62; survived by his wife, Estela.

Loewen, William, Winnipeg; University of Manitoba, 1958; family medicine; CCFP, FCFP; former staff, Altona Community Memorial Health Centre. Died Feb. 9, 2000, aged 70; survived by his wife, Selma, and 3 children. His obituary stated: "He was thrilled to have the opportunity to fly into many communities in Northern Manitoba to practise medicine, and to come back with the added bonus of another fishing story to tell."

MacDonald, Wendell L. (Wen), Charlottetown; University of Edinburgh (Scotland), 1937; radiology; former staff, Prince Edward Island and Charlottetown hospitals. Died Apr. 23, 2000, aged 91; survived by his wife, Elizabeth, and 4 children. He was skip of Canada's championship senior curling rink 3 times, represented PEI in 3 Brier championships and was a member of the Canadian Curling Hall of Fame. Fellow curler Doug George remembered the MacDonald rink's first national victory in the Charlottetown Guardian: "It was the first time an Island team, in curling, had won a Canadian championship. We had our chests stuck out pretty well as we walked down the ice at the old Halifax Forum."

Died Jan. 23, 2000, aged 79; survived by his wife, Betty, and children, Dr. Warren, Dr. Douglas, Wendy, Mary and Robert.
