About 18 000 patients are admitted to hospital with brain injuries in Canada each year. In this issue, William Pickett and colleagues examine the blunt head traumas seen at emergency departments in Kingston, Ont., and discuss the leading external causes of potential brain injury in various age groups (page 288).
