Bujold, Edèse J., Dalhousie, NB; Université Laval, 1949; MCFP; ancien président du personnel médical de l'Hôpital St-Joseph. Décédé le 22 avril 2001 à l'âge de 81 ans; laisse son épouse, Donalda.

Grimes, J. David, Ottawa; University of Ottawa, 1964; neurology; FRCPC; former staff, senior vice-president, Research and Academic Affairs, director and founder, Parkinson's Disease Clinic, and chief of medical staff, Ottawa Civic Hospital; director, Loeb Medical Research Institute; professor, University of Ottawa; author, One Step at a Time. Died May 8, 2001, aged 61; survived by his wife, Sharon, and children Dr. David, Kelly, Shaun, Scott, Kristen and Matthew. The Ottawa Citizen reported: "He knew what it was like to be a patient from his own bouts with catastrophic illness. He had a successful double-lung transplant in 1991. In 1995 he was struck with Hodgkin's disease. Last October he developed congenital liver disease. His son Shaun donated half of his liver for transplant."

Lorimer, Donald G., St. Catharines, Ont.; University of Toronto, 1963; former staff, St. Catharines General and Hotel-Dieu hospitals; director, Brock University Health Service. Died Mar. 25, 2001, aged 63; survived by his wife, Mary, and 3 children.

MacArthur, W.J. Campbell, Oakville, Ont.; McGill University, 1938; FACS, FICS, FRCSC; medical officer, RCAF, WW II, twice mentioned in dispatches; cofounder and former chief of surgery and chief of staff, Oakville–Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. Died of cancer Apr. 2, 2001, aged 87; survived by his wife, Dorothy, and children Dr. Cam, Judy, Heather and Jamie. He was a third-generation physician who showed a passion for helping others from an early age. Through his Rotary Club connections he sent medical equipment to the Caribbean and flew sick children to Toronto for treatment. In 1985 he was named a member of the Order of the British Empire — an honour rarely given to Canadians — in recognition of his work in the British Virgin Islands. The Toronto Star reported: "When the MacArthurs celebrated their 60th anniversary last summer, City-TV asked how the couple got along so well. Dr. MacArthur, with his wife at his side, turned to the camera and said, "Just remember 2 words: 'Yes, dear.' "

Sproul, R. Douglas, New Westminster, BC; University of Manitoba, 1952; diagnostic radiology; FRCPC; former staff, Burnaby, Richmond and Delta General hospitals. Died May 16, 2001, aged 76; survived by his wife, Eleanor, and 3 children.

Thomson, John A., Calgary; University of Toronto, 1933; internal medicine; RCAMC, WW II; former staff, Royal Inland Hospital; staff and chair, Burris Clinic. Died Apr. 20, 2001, aged 93; survived by his wife, Tinker, and 2 children.
