Died May 28, 2001, aged 67; survived by his wife, Carol, and 6 children. His obituary stated: "His practice in chronic pain management was the most rewarding of his life."

Bernard, J. Adrien, Gloucester, Ont.; Université d'Ottawa, 1969; radiothérapie diagnostique; FRCPC; ancien radiologiste de l'Hôpital Queensway-Carleton et St. Vincent Sisters of Charity. Décédé le 3 mai 2001, à l'âge de 57 ans; laisse son épouse, Lilianne Landry.

Karlinsky, William, Winnipeg; University of Manitoba, 1945; internal medicine; RCAMC, WW II; FCCP, FACP, FRCPC; former staff physician, Winnipeg Health Sciences Centre, Deer Lodge and Victoria General hospitals; associate professor, University of Manitoba. Died due to multiple sclerosis June 7, 2001, aged 78; survived by his wife, Minnie, and 4 children.

Large, Alfred W., Victoria; University of Toronto, 1939; anesthesia; medical officer, RCAF, WW II; former family physician, Prince Rupert, BC; staff, Vancouver General Hospital. Died June 6, 2001, aged 87; survived by his wife, Fran, and 2 daughters. His obituary stated: "He was the last member of a West Coast family that provided medical services to the people of British Columbia from 1898 to 1988."

MacKenzie, Charles R., St. Catharines, Ont.; McGill University, 1949; obstetrics/gynecology; DABOG, FICS, FACS, FACOG, FSOGC, FRCSC; former staff and chief, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Hotel Dieu and St. Catharines General hospitals; president, Lincoln County Academy of Medicine and Family Planning Association of Niagara. Died of cancer July 24, 2001, aged 77; survived by his wife, Agnes, and children Dr. Ronald, Barbara and John.

MacLeod, J. Wendell, Montreal; McGill University, 1930; internal medicine; MCFP, FACP, FRCPC; OBE; RCN, WW II; former dean of medicine, University of Saskatchewan; first executive secretary, Association of Canadian Medical Colleges; senior member, CMA; Order of Canada, 1980. Died June 10, 2001, aged 96; survived by his companion, Jolanta Sise, and 2 children. His obituary stated: "He was an early and ardent supporter of universal health care and made a major contribution to the Hall Royal Commission on Health Services. He received honorary doctoral degrees from 4 universities — Saskatchewan, Queen's, Sherbrooke and Memorial — and the Association of Canadian Medical Colleges established the J. Wendell MacLeod Lecture in his honour."

Died of cancer June 10, 2001, aged 78; survived by his wife, Catherine, and 7 children.

Moore, Sean, Westmount, Que.; Queen's University (Ireland), 1950; pathology; FRCPC; former director of laboratories, Chedoke–McMaster Hospital; chief pathologist and staff, Royal Victoria Hospital; director, Residency Training Program, researcher, professor and chair, Department of Pathology, McGill University. Died June 10, 2001, aged 74; survived by his wife, Cynthia, and 3 children.

Phin, Kenneth G., Windsor, Ont.; Queen's University, 1949; psychiatry; former staff, Metropolitan General Hospital. Died May 26, 2001, aged 78.

Ramsey, Ernest W., Winnipeg; Queen's University (Ireland), 1963; urology; FRCS(Eng.), FRCSC; former staff and head, Department of Urology, Health Science Centre; professor and head, Department of Urology, University of Manitoba. Died June 5, 2001, aged 62.

Rasmussen, George E., Alert Bay, BC; University of British Columbia, 1964; former staff, Royal Jubilee, Victoria General and Gorge Road hospitals; civil aviation medical examiner. Died of prostate cancer June 13, 2001, aged 66; survived by his companion, Tove, and 3 children. His obituary stated: "He moved to Alert Bay to practise the rural medicine he always longed to. At home, George could be found doing one of his many hobbies or tearing up a local golf course with his foursome."

Saunders, Allison L., Charlottetown; Dalhousie University, 1948; former staff, Prince Edward Island Hospital. Died June 13, 2001, aged 77.

Sims, Stuart D., Toronto; University of Toronto, 1954; obstetrics/gynecology; FRCSC; former chief, ob/gyn, Humber Memorial Hospital. Died June 13, 2001, aged 72; survived by his wife, Laurie, and 2 children.

Whetter, Reginald W., Lindell Beach, BC; University of Manitoba, 1932; MCFP. Died Apr. 21, 2001, aged 94.
