Industry Canada salutes the on-line renaissance of CM, Canadian Materials. SchoolNet at Industry Canada is proud to be among the partners supporting the resumption in publication of such a needed and useful journal.

The government accepted the challenge, in its microeconomic action plan, of connecting all 16,500 schools and 3,400 libraries to the Internet by 1998. The principal strategy to achieve this objective is to attract schools and libraries onto the Internet through the provision of useful, informative and money-saving services accessible through SchoolNet.

From our perspective, the availability of CM on-line will encourage libraries and schools to get connected to the Internet. For CM, a link to SchoolNet opens a pathway to the 300,000 users of SchoolNet per month. So both of us will benefit from our partnership.

Congratulations to you and your colleagues at the Manitoba Libary Association for your innovative approach to the renewal of a much-needed publication. I wish you every success in this initiative.
