What a delight! This is a beautiful counting book, but more than that it authentically details familiar and exotic wildlife, while counting from one panda to twenty tropical fish. It also illustrates larger numbers such as fifty flamingos, and even one thousand tadpoles! (Go ahead - count them!!) As if these exquisite, colourful pictures are not enough, this picture-book ends with a pyramid-shaped review of the numbers and "Nature Notes" explaining each picture.

Jan Thornhill's first book, The Wildlife ABC ¹, was nominated for a Governor General's award.

The Wildlife 123: A Nature Counting Book can be used by many age and grade levels for counting and science. This hardcover appears to be well bound and should certainly give value for its cost - whether in small hands or a busy library. It's a treasure!
