excerpt: Katelyn's head jumped off the ![]() Illustrator Charles Bell's pictures are bold and colorful, but they have a smudged graphic look about them. Apparently Bell works mainly in the corporate sector, and this is his first picture book. Bell has done an average job with this book, but somehow knowing that the art work was rendered digitally turns me off a little. However, overall, this is a decent book with an adventure story that young readers will enjoy. One Arabian Morning would be a nice read aloud choice for older storytimes and classroom use. Recommended. Catherine Hoyt is the Curator of the Eileen Wallace Children's Literature Collection at the University of New Brunswick.
