DISTANCE
EDUCATION
The
Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences offers an on-line
course in Organic Agriculture and Distance and Online Education courses
in conjunction with Extended Education.
Credit
in the Diploma in Agriculture Program will be given for
the following degree level course:
AGRI
1510 Production, Distribution and Utilization of Agricultural
Products (September delivery)
This
is an introduction to the aspects of agriculture that follow
primary production and includes confined animal production
an a presentation of a model of the entire agri-food system.
Special emphasis is given to processing, marketing, transportation
and food safety.
Organic
Crop Production on the Prairies (January delivery)
This
course, which is offered both as a credit and a non-credit
course, highlights organic crop production principles and
practices in both wet and dry areas of the prairies and
within the different prairie soil zones. Decision cases
are used to provide students with real-world challenges
facing organic farmers. Students will also learn through
readings, on-line class discussions and written assignments.
The course consists of seven stand-alone modules and will
be delivered using a WebCT platform.
Prairie
Horticulture Certificate
The
Prairie Horticulture Certificate Program provides a unique
opportunity to study horticulture that relates specifically
to prairie conditions. This program is offered in partnership
with Assiniboine Community College, Olds College, the University
of Manitoba, and the University of Saskatchewan. Four areas
of study within the program include:
