Extended Education

Extended Education develops and delivers off-campus degree credit and non-degree courses, on-campus summer courses, distance and online courses, and an extensive list of certificate programs. Students include professionals, new learners, Canadian Armed Forces personnel and their families, and international students.

General Studies offers degree credit courses within a wide variety of our faculties and schools to students who are not seeking a degree. Students can work towards meeting faculty entrance requirements, or towards developing their careers and enriching their knowledge, course by course. If students subsequently decide to seek a degree, they are encouraged to apply for admission to their faculty of choice.

English Language Studies offers Intensive English Programs from one month to one year in duration, with levels ranging from beginner to advanced. Throughout the program, students will increase their knowledge of English beyond the textbook as they share study experiences and university accommodation with other students. The Certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language (CTESL), and a variety of conversational language courses are also offered.

Continuing Education programs include certificates and individual courses for personal and professional development. Over 250 comprehensive courses are offered in 30 different career-related programs as well as a variety of short courses and seminars. These courses reflect the issues of today’s workplace in fields such as management, accounting, human resources, adult education, health and social services, intellectual property and technology commercialization, manufacturing engineering, and horticulture.

Distance Education provides courses and programs to students in a number of different off campus formats. Please see our Study Options page for more information.
