Medicine

The Doctor of Medicine degree program begins with two years of preclerkship, which is divided into blocks of core concepts including basic science, human development, and body systems. Courses in clinical skills, problem-solving, medical humanities, laboratory medicine, and stress management are integrated into the core blocks. The curriculum is taught with a ‘systems’ approach, which helps students integrate and apply their knowledge early in their medical education. Students work with, observe, and learn from experienced doctors in various settings. The program is completed with a clerkship, in which students continue to work with patients and doctors in a clinical setting, with increasing responsibility for patient care. As students rotate through all of the major disciplines of medicine, they will decide on the postgraduate training they wish to pursue.
