More than 3,200 students from Canada and around the world come to the University of Manitoba to pursue their academic dreams, studying and researching at the graduate level with professors who are known nationally and internationally for their excellence in research, creative activity, and graduate education. Our faculty members secure more than $146.7 million annually in external research funding pursuing research that has led to breakthroughs and new ideas in many fields, including medicine, engineering, science, agriculture, and social science.

The University of Manitoba offers a variety of financial support to its graduate students. In addition to the research support many students receive from their advisors, the University has millions of dollars available for University of Manitoba Graduate Scholarships (UMGFs), Manitoba Graduate Fellowships (MGFs), International Graduate Student Scholarships (IGSS) for students entering and continuing in their graduate programs, competitive top-up funds for national awards (i.e., NSERC, SSHRC, CIHR), as well as more than 600 other graduate scholarships and bursaries, worth many more millions, which are administered by the various graduate programs.

Graduate students are vital to making the University of Manitoba one of Canada's top research-intensive institutions. The dedicated administration and members of the Faculty of Graduate Studies oversee the academic quality and integrity of 47 doctoral, 84 masters and 1 diploma program, including a number of highly innovative interdisciplinary programs, so that students find success and opportunity from their research and training at the University of Manitoba.

The following Graduate Program courses will be offered for the Faculty of Kinesiology and Recreation Management in 2008-09.
University of Manitoba professor Christine Van Winkle wants to take 200 tourists on a one-hour walking tour of the Exchange District, with each one listening to commentary on an iPod. Afterwards they'll respond to a research survey.
