Icelandic Language and Literature

The Department of Icelandic Language and Literature provides the opportunity for an introduction to as well as scholarly research in the fields of Icelandic Language and Literature and Icelandic Canadian studies. Courses include: Modern Icelandic Language, Modern Icelandic Literature, Icelandic-Canadian Literature, Norse Mythology, Sagas of Icelanders, Films, Folktales and Contemporary Icelandic Culture.



The University of Manitoba Icelandic Radio Journal is a series of short documentaries highlighting Icelandic culture in Winnipeg through interviews with and readings by professors and guest lecturers of the Icelandic Department at the University of Manitoba, as well as members of the community.

This series is a joint production of the Department of Icelandic Language and Literature and UMFM 101.5, and is produced by A.S. Kitchen. If you are interested in participating in an edition of the series, or if you would like a copy of one of the programs, contact: umkitche@cc.umanitoba.ca.
