Medical Admissions

The study of medicine can lead to a wide variety of interesting and challenging careers and many opportunities to make an important contribution to human health and welfare. Applying to Medical School

All applicants will receive an e-mail January 12 indicating whether they have selected for an interview this year.

2009 Interviews for MD Admissions will be conducted
February 28, March 1 and March 7.

Orientation for all candidates invited to interview in 2009 will be held February 9 at 7:00 PM (CST) in Theatre A, Basic Medical Sciences Bldg.

A live webcast of the orientation will also be accessible for Out-of-Province applicants. Complete details will be included by e-mail notification where applicable.


NOTE Referee Report Forms and information below
Please READ CAREFULLY: 
 

  • At this time candidates in the Manitoba and Aboriginal Applicant Pools are requested to contact their references to complete the following Referee Report Form and Letter according to the instructions.

  • Guidelines for the letters of reference and the accompanying Referee Report Form.

  • Referees must send all completed reference materials direclty to the Faculty of Medicine:

    (1) Identifier page; 
    (2) the attached form;
    (3) the reference letter as instructed.

  •  Referee reports will not be accepted from applicants.

  • All Manitoba and Aboriginal candidates will be provided with outstanding references at the time of invitation to interview in January.

  • Applicants may not change their referees from those listed on their application form.

    *Only those Out-of-Province applicants invited to interview are required to submit Referee Reports. Please do not solicit these reports before you have received notification that you will be interviewed at the University of Manitoba, Faculty of Medicine.


Financial Aid and Awards

Tuition for Medicine currently costs approximately $7,500 a year, with supplies and books averaging $3500 a year. Most students find the workload sufficiently heavy that they cannot consider working part-time to provide income. For more information about financial support, please see below:
