CHERD was established in 1987 as a centre for graduate preparation, research and publication in higher education. The Centre offers regional, national, and international courses, programs, seminars, and workshops.
CHERD strives to maintain an appropriate balance among the tasks of teaching, research, and service. At the same time, it attempts to maintain a similarly appropriate balance among its commitments locally, provincially, nationally, and internationally. The Centre also uses a range of media, journals, monographs, and data sets to exchange information with its world-wide network of scholars and practitioners.
The activities of the Centre are carried out by a core of academic and support staff and research assistants and a larger network of academic leaders in higher education from the University of Manitoba and across North America.
