On August 15, 2007, Toronto finally joined the ranks of the big boys. We finally got our very first Stitch & Pitch. The National Needlearts Association [TNNA] says about this fairly recent invention, "Stitch N' Pitch brings together two American traditions — Baseball and the NeedleArts. Come to a ball game and knit, crochet, embroider, cross-stitch and needlepoint. Sit among friends, family and colleagues and cheer on your favorite Baseball Team."

Not just American. Canadians like baseball too! The Stitch N' Pitch phenomenon started in Seattle, where it's growing exponentially every year, and this year for the first time, Torontonian knitters got to come out and support their Blue Jays with the rest of the muggles. The opponent: the Los Angeles Angels. There was knitting, there was cheering, there was ballpark food for everyone and the mascot got a handknit scarf. Oh, and the home team won, too. Good times.
