1 inch, ending with a purl row.
Next and following 2 even rows
[RS]: Skp, k to last st, k2tog.
Continue decreasing until there
are 6 sts on the needle.
BO, leaving an 8-inch long tail
of yarn at the end. This will be used to gather
the circle into a little cover for each earpiece.

Next Row: Knit.

sts remain on needle.
Work in garter stitch for 3 rows.
Next row [make buttonhole]: k2,
YO, k2.
Next row: Skp, k to last ststitch,
k2tog. [3 sts remain.]
Next row: K3tog, cut yarn and
pull the tail through the last remaining st to knot
the yarn.
