Daniel R. Danehy I always had a fascination for the Earth Sciences and fossils while growing up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I was formally introduced to paleobotany in a Geobiology class at Pennsylvania State University. This course opened my mind to challenging new concepts and questions about the history of life on Earth; I have been captivated with this subject ever since. Particularly, I am interested in large-scale questions related to paleobiology and paleoecology. In 2006 I earned the first B.S. in Geobiology given by Penn State University. My first field experience in paleobotany occurred during the summer of 2004, assisting Peter Wilf near Miles City, Montana, and in the Bighorn Basin of Wyoming. In the summers of 2006 and 2007 I was a paleobotany intern at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science, doing field and lab work for the Denver Basin Project. I began M.S. studies at Southern Methodist University in the fall of 2007, researching the paleobotany and paleoecology of the Chilga Basin of northwestern Ethiopia with Bonnie Jacobs. |
