Adam Stuart Smith holds degrees in
palaeobiology and evolution (B.Sc, Portsmouth), palaeobiology (M.Sc, Bristol),
and he completed a Ph.D in vertebrate palaeontology in 2007 (University College
Dublin). He is currently a research assistant in Trinity College, Dublin, where
he is developing educational earth science material for schools in Ireland (Geoschol).
Adam is also a consultant for Earthsim‘s virtual World of Dinosaurs
project, and has developed web material with the BBC, Open University, and
University of Bristol.
Adam’s main areas of academic research
involve plesiosaurs and other ‘sea dragons’; his Ph.D project formed an
investigation into the anatomy and relationships of Lower Jurassic pliosaurs.
Adam initiated and maintains The Plesiosaur Directory website (http://www.plesiosauria.com),
dedicated to all aspects of the Plesiosauria, and he is a palaeoartist; his
illustrations have been used in magazines and exhibits. |
