France Patrice Baby is and geologist and Directeur de
Recherche at the IRD (Institut de Recherche pour le Développement) and Assistant
Director of the LMTG (http://www.lmtg.obs-mip.fr/) in Toulouse, France. His
research focuses on the geodynamical evolution of the Central Andes and the
western Amazon basin. A multidisciplinary approach, which involves numerous
colleagues, is used to understand the timing, spatial history, and tectonic
causes of the Neogene Amazonian basin development and associated sedimentary and
biologic environments. These studies involve geology, palaeontology, and
intensive field works in Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia. He lived and worked in South
America during 15 years, where he participated in numerous expeditions. |
