Joe Blades

A writer, artist, editor and publisher from Nova Scotia who has been living in Fredericton, New Brunswick since 1990, Joe Blades runs Maritimes Arts Projects Productions, is the publisher at Broken Jaw Press Inc., and is on the editorial board of ellipse magazine. A graduate of the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design (BFA, 1988), he is also an alumni of the Banff Centre for the Arts Writing Program, Maritime Writers Workshop, Sage Hill Experience, and the Simon Fraser University Book Publishing Immersion Workshop. Blades curated Videopoems: a screening for the Tidal Wave Film Festival (2003) and was the producer-host of Ashes, Paper & Beans: Fredericton's Poetry & Writing show on CHSR from 1995-2006. Since 1980, his poetry has appeared in magazines, videos, art exhibitions, over 50 anthologies, 28 chapbooks, and four books. He travels extensively, giving readings, lectures and workshops across Canada, in the Eastern USA, and in Europe.
