Heather Cadsby was born in Belleville, Ontario. She holds a B.A. degree from McMaster University. She lives in Toronto.

Cadsby is a poet, editor, and teacher. She has given poetry writing workshops at the elementary school level for the North York Board of Education. She has also given workshops for teachers on approaching poetry with children, and has given poetry workshops at MASC:Young Authors and Illustrators Conference. Cadsby is the author of three books of poetry, Traditions, Decoys, and A Tantrum of Synonyms. Her work has been included in numerous anthologies including Full Moon, The Toronto Collection, Love & Hunger, and Vivid.

Classroom Approach:
Cadsby has developed a series of poetry writing workshops focusing on the process. Her sessions include collaborative poems; the haiku experience; 13 ways of looking; onomatopoeia; cinquain variations; go away/come close; free fall; and concrete poems. There are fifteen sessions in total. They are independent and any number may be selected.
