Classroom Approach:
I will come into the classroom and
help the kids see that if you turn off the Nintendo, if but briefly,
that poetry can be fun. I have a love for poetry that bubbles out into
the class. Usually start with informal talk with the kids and then read
a few poems and then I hear some of the poems that the kids have been
working on. There is nothing like having an encouraging writer listen
to an aspiring writer. It changed my life when in Grade 9 a poet came
to my classroom. I am comfortable working with kids from Grade 2 to
OAC. I have an understanding of young people and can relate to them.
The kids will come away with a renewed respect for writers and the
things we have to do to follow the craft ( from lifting timber to
delivering mail...) My poetry is for adults mostly but I always read
age appropriate material. Looking forward to igniting the creative
spark in your classroom
