Raised in the Northern Ontario town of Blind River, Lauren Carter's work echoes with images of water, rock, and other elements of landscape.
At the age of 18, she published her first poem in Saskatchewan-based Green's Magazine. Since then, she's gone on to place work in Grain, Prairie Fire, Contemporary Verse 2, and other literary journals. Lichen Bright, her first book, was written with the assistance of an Ontario Arts Council grant and was published in 2005 by Your Scrivener Press, a regional press that focuses on Northeastern Ontario writing.
These days, she lives in Orillia, Ontario, with her husband, Jason, and teaches communications at Georgian College while freelance writing for several publications.
She enjoys sailing, hiking, and reading pulp fiction, every now and then.
