Sharon Drummond

Sharon Drummond was born in Detroit, Michigan, and has lived in Calgary since 1976. Her poetry has been widely published in literary journals and broadcast on CBC radio. Sharon's chapbook of poetry, Still The Rush, was published in 1999, and her first full length book, Into This Room, was released by Black Moss Press in 2001. Sharon is Past President of The Alexandra Writers' Centre, and currently serves on the executive of the Writers Guild of Alberta. Sharon teaches poetry courses and workshops for both the Alexandra Writers' Centre and the Calgary Board of Education. She is also Assistant Editor of Freefall magazine, and is involved in developing a program to produce anthologies of student writing in the Calgary schools. A past participant in the Banff Centre's "Writing with Style" course, Sharon is currently working with poet Liz Philips, as part of Banff's 2001 Wired Writing Studio. As a member of a poetry group which has met weekly for over 5 years, Sharon is excited about the publication of their chapbook, Seven@Seven, in the spring of 2002.
