Gillian Harding-Russell

Gillian Harding-Russell has one poetry collection, Candles in my head (Ekstasis Editions, 2001) and another forthcoming entitled Vertigo... (River Books). Her poetry has been anthologized in the following collections Waiting for you to speak(Mekler and Deahl,1999), No Choice but to Trust (Mekler and Deahl, 2000), Swimming in the Ocean at Night (Leaf Press, 2003), Land/Space: an anthology of Prairie Literature (Tesseract Books, 2003), The Common Sky: Poems against the US-led invasion of Iraq( Three Squares Press, 2003) and Letting Yourself Go : Poems of Grief and Loss (Black Moss, forthcoming). Her poetry has been published widely across Canada. She is poetry editor for Event, and lives in Regina with her husband, Peter and three children, Celia, Gareth and Laurie.

Poetry Prize, The Saskatchewan Writers Guild, 1993 for “Flowers Have Feet.”
Poetry Prize, The Saskatchewan Writers Guild, 1995 for “In the Basement of the Plains Hospital.”
Honourable Mention, Prairie Fire Poetry Contest, 1996 for “Letter to a Ghost.”
Second prize for “I wear my mother’s bones,”  the Sandburg-Livesay Anthology Award , March,1999.
Second prize for “Kaleidoscope :a study in variations” in the CV contest, “Shades of light: shades of colour,” vol22, no 1( spring, 99), 23-28.
Selections from Vertigo and Poems for a lesser Gethsemane ( a work in progress), short-listed for the  C.BC. Literary awards (2003).   
“Chest of Drawers” wins Honourable mention in “Simply Good Poetry Contest” by Ontario Poetry Society.
