Walter Hildebrandt

Walter Hildebrandt was born in Brook, Alberta in 1951. He has his Honours B.A. and his M.A. in History from the University of Saskatchewan. Since 1979 he has worked as a historical researcher and consultant for Parks Canada and various native organizations. His poetry is mostly regional and historical, particularly in the long poem style. From 1983 to 1992 he was a contributing editor for NeWest Review.

Public History/Private History poetry prize, 1994.
Gustavus Myers Award for Outstanding Book on Human Rights in North America, for the book The True Spirit and Original Intent of Treaty, 1998.
