Currently creating a collection of dog poems, Dorothy Mahoney is a teacher at Essex District High School where her enthusiastic phrase, "Write that down!" has become legendary. On a sabbatical for 2006-2007, she hopes to travel, write, travel and write... She has worked with Learning through the Arts to create a Pioneer Poetry unit for Grade three classrooms, helped develop a literacy strategy for Grade nine students using the Arrogant Worms and is a co-editor of her school board's creative writing contest, The Pluralist. Her writing group has published an anthology, and she has a chapbook about her trip to China and two poetry books.
