Sheila Martindale

Sheila Martindale was born and educated in England, and came to Canada in 1966, settling in Montreal, but relocating to Ontario. Since 1982 she has been poetry editor of Canadian Author (formerly Canadian Author and Bookman), and in 1988 she became Canadian editor of Bogg magazine (U.S.A.). She has also been a theatre critic with Scene magazine in London since its inception in 1989. She teaches creative writing at the Part Time and Continuing Education Faculty of the University of Western Ontario, and is in demand as a literary adjudicator.

She has seven books of poetry to her credit and teaches creative writing at the Part-Time and Continuing Education Faculty of the University of Western Ontario.

Classroom Approach:
If she does a reading, she tailors her material to the age level and includes an anecdotal commentary. If she does a workshop she involves the kids in writing something then and there. Alternatively, she requests that a sample of their work be sent to her ahead of time, and then She can do either a group evaluation or one-on-one, depending on the teacher's preference.
