George McWhirter

George McWhirter was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, in 1939. He studied at Queen's University, Belfast, and at the University of British Columbia, and has a B.A., Dip. Ed. and M.A. He has taught in Ireland, Spain, and British Columbia. He came to Canada in 1966, and has lived in Vancouver since 1968. He has taught at the University of British Columbia in the Department of Creative Writing since 1970. He is also an advisory editor of Prism international.
