Barbara Curry Mulcahy

Born in Trinidad and raised in India, Greece, the U.S. and Israel, Barbara came to Canada when she was eighteen. After receiving a BFA in creative writing at UBC, she moved to northern Alberta. Once a librarian, then a health promoter and then a columnist on seniors’ health issues, she now is a writer, an editor and a teacher of ESL and Adult Literacy. Besides poems, she has written short stories, a radio play, essays and articles. Her work has been published throughout Canada and in the U.S. Her book of poetry The Man with the Dancing Monkey was shortlisted for the Pat Lowther Memorial Award and the Gerald Lampert Memorial Award. Her current writing projects are The Pancreas Replies (poetry), Did I Tell You the Story of Clara? (children’s biography) and The Drawing of Maria (novel).
