Peter Richardson

PETER RICHARDSON was born in Connecticut in 1948. In 1969, he emigrated to Canada where he has worked at a variety of jobs including ski instructor, farm labourer and grounds worker at a ski resort. Since 1977, he has been employed as a ramp worker first at Mirabel and more recently, at Dorval airport. A part-time translator, he lives in Morin Heights, Quebec.

Published, A Tinkers' Picnic (Véhicule Press, 1999) Has given seminars to writing students on two occasions at Wittenberg University, Springfield, Ohio. On both occasions, gave a reading after the seminars. Currently employed by Air Canada as a ramp worker at Dorval Airport. Book shortlisted for Gerald Lampert award.

Classroom Approach:
I give a brief talk on how I got involved in writing verse some 20 years ago and who my influences are. From there, I either answer questions on work that students have already read or we workshop some of thier poems.
