Carolyn Marie Souaid

Carolyn Marie Souaid is a poet, book reviewer, and teacher. Her work has been produced for CBC-Radio, and has been published nationally and internationally. She has been a guest on Global TV, CBC-Radio, and TVOntario, and has participated in numerous literary festivals across Canada. Arguing for a poetry that opens rather than closes doors— one that crosses boundaries and remains kinetic— Carolyn Marie joined forces with former Vehicule poet Endre Farkas in spring 2004 to produce "Poésie en mouvement", a moving anthology of poetry on board Montreal city buses. She was also one of 27 writers selected for the inaugural year of "Random Acts of Poetry", a highly-publicized national event which sent poets out into the streets of their communities to read to fellow Canadians-- a first in this country.

Carolyn Marie earned a Master’s degree in Creative Writing from Concordia University in 1995, and is the three-time recipient of professional grants to writers (Canada Council and the Conseil des arts et lettres du Québec). She is also a member of UNEQ (l’Union des écrivaines et écrivains du Québec) and the Quebec Writers’ Federation.

She lives in St-Lambert, Quebec.
