John Weier

John Weier was born in Winnipeg in 1949, and grew up on a fruit farm near Niagara-on- the-Lake. After graduating from high school, he studied anthropology and history of religions at the University of Manitoba. In 1975 he began work as a maker of banjos, violas and violins. John has studied in India and England. He has worked in the Canadian book publishing industry and as a musician. He coached for ten years in the Manitoba Fastball program and has been awarded the Manitoba Order of Sport Excellence. He is a past president of the League of Canadian Poets and presently freelances as a violin restorer and writer.
