Patience Wheatley

Patience Wheatley was born in Bourne End, Buckinghamshire, England, on September 4, 1924; she came to Canada at the age of fifteen. She went to McGill University, and later joined the Canadian Women's Army Corps. Her first published poem appeared in The Antigonish Review in 1975. Since then her work, both poetry and fiction, has appeared in numerous Canadian literary magazines, sometimes under the name Pat Wheatley. She moved from Montreal to Kingston, Ontario, in 1981, and has given readings in both cities.
