The Toronto Slavic Quarterly Library announces the publication of a monograph, Anna Akhmatova v 60-e gody, by Prof. Roman Timenchik of the Hebrew University, Jerusalem. The book examines the final decade in the poet's creative biography, tracing the impact of external circumstances, both personal and socio-political, as they were reflected in the pages of her notebooks, as they took shape in the drafts of her poems and prose, and as they sometimes developed into her finished works. For his reconstruction of Akhmatova's final years Prof. Timenchik relies on archive materials, predominantly from the poet's personal archive. The 784-page monograph is in Russian (hardcover).
