Biographical note

Shouyong Shi

A PhD in Economics, Mr. Shouyong Shi has taught at the University of Indiana, Queen's University, and the University of Windsor. He has held a visiting post at the University of Pennsylvania and has been a visiting scholar at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. He has been a professor at the University of Toronto since 2002.

Mr. Shi has published widely in the areas of Macroeconomics, Monetary Theory, and Labour Theory, and has spoken at numerous conferences around the world. He is a member of the Society for Economics Dynamics, and the Econometric Society. He is currently an associate editor of the Journal of International Economics and has acted as a referee for various academic journals.

Mr. Shi has received a number of awards and grants, including the John Rae prize of the Canadian Economic Association for excellent research, the University of Windsor Research Board Grant, and grants from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada.

Mr. Shi, a native of Tianmen County, People's Republic of China, received a bachelor's degree (1984) in Industrial Engineering and Management Science from the Huazhong University of Science and Technology, China. He moved to Canada in 1986, and received both a master's degree (1988), and a PhD (1991) in Economics from the University of Toronto.
