2009 Symposium on Recordkeeping in the GC

Library and Archives Canada (LAC) and Treasury Board Secretariat Canada (TBS) invite you to a symposium celebrating the launch of the Directive on Recordkeeping to be held 2 April 2009 from 8:30 to 2:30 in the Auditorium of 395 Wellington.

Please join us for this opportunity to make new contacts, exchange ideas and share lessons learned and best practices. This event is not only for information management specialists; we encourage you to share this invitation with colleagues from the operational areas of your institution.

Sessions will centre around:

  • Recordkeeping in a Digital World

  • Information Management Policy & Awareness

  • Resource Discovery

  • Litigation

  • Published Information Resources in the Recordkeeping Paradigm

Short presentations will be given during concurrent sessions, with plenty of time for audience participation and interaction.

The sessions will be paperless, no presentations will be distributed on site. However, they will be available on our website by March 26 2009. Please feel free to review them ahead of time and to bring your own copies to the event.

This event is free of charge. However, space is limited and places will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis.

Information Management Sessions at GTEC 2007
Information Management Strategies Division (IMSD) of the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) and Government Technology Exhibition and Conference (GTEC) are working together to present a series of Information Management (IM) sessions during the 15th annual GTEC Conference from October 15th - 17th.

The IM Conference at GTEC provides a unique combination of IM related sessions and GTEC keynote speakers. The IM Sessions will provide information on the future of IM within the Government of Canada, the renewed Policy on Information Management, IM organizational capacity, library service and Web 2.0, electronic discovery, competitive technical intelligence, and recordkeeping.

Canadian Metadata Forum 2005
The second Canadian Metadata Forum will take place on September 27 and 28, 2005. The theme of this year's Forum is Metadata: A Reality Check. This two-day event is designed for key decision-makers and leaders in the field of information resource management. Sessions will address the challenges of metadata implementation, namely, how to realize the investment in metadata and how to influence metadata policy where it matters most: within organizations and with search engines.
