Introduction:

Following a recommendation by the Office of the Auditor General with regards to the Audit on Large Information Technology Projects, PWGSC has agreed to provide supplementary information with regards to the Secure Channel initiative. The following two tables contain the information on this initiative.

Key Secure Channel epass Measures

# Key Measure Notes Quantified Result

See detailed table providing a breakdown of 40 government portals and programs that use epass.

A portal may provide access to one or many programs. An epass obtained by a user may be used to access one or many government departmental programs.

In other Secure Channel services there is no imposed capacity limit and the Crown pays for what is consumed.

82.9%
8
Secure Channel percent capacity used by the Secure Channel Service

These measures are expressed as a percentage of total processing capacity contracted for epass services, measured at time of peak processing load. Peak loads occur regularly once per week, usually taking place around midday on Mondays and/or Tuesdays. Two processing capacity measures are used: peak transactions per minute and the number of concurrent user sessions. The service has been load tested to its contracted capacity. It performs under peak load and maximum contracted load without failure or service degradation.

The highest Peak Transactions Per Minute (TPM) recorded to date is 310 on Feb 08 2010 at 15:14 (contracted capacity is 593 transactions)

The highest Peak Concurrent Users Sessions recorded to date is 3487 on Feb 02 2009 at 15:15 (contracted capacity is 3,950 user sessions)
