Pay Transformation Initiative: December 2011 No. 11

Pay Modernization Project

The Project is in the process of conducting workshops with departments and central agencies to validate newly developed business process models, as well as to map pay requirements against the proposed Government of Canada new pay system. These workshops include both business and Information Technology (IT) activities that will provide the high level foundation upon which the new pay system will be designed.

Interviews with key leaders from other government departments were conducted in October. The intent of these interviews was to gauge each leaders existing level of knowledge of the Project, their perspective on critical project success factors, as well as to gather information and suggestions on how the Project should engage and communicate with stakeholders moving forward.

The results of these interviews will be used to validate that the right stakeholders are being engaged, and to strengthen the communication strategy.

Consolidation of Pay Services Project Reaches a Significant Milestone

Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) is moving forward with the implementation of the Consolidation of Pay Services Project, whereby pay services from 56 participating organizations will gradually be transferred to PWGSCs new Pay Centre of Expertise in Miramichi, NB.

The transfer of pay services will take place in a gradual, measured and deliberate manner over the next four years. For example, Wave 1 departments will transfer 20,000 of their pay services in four stages over an 18 month period, with the first 4000 accounts being transferred in May 2012. The detailed transfer schedule, indicating the timing of the transfer of pay services for each of the 56 participating organizations, has been shared with your Head of Human Resources, to be further shared with you alongside departmental transition plans.

Should you have any additional questions on when your departments pay services will be transferred to the Pay Centre of Expertise or the departmental transition plans, please direct them to your manager.

The Consolidation of Pay Services Project - Transfer Schedule outlines the timing of the transfer of pay services for the 56 participating organizations.
