Understanding the Listings
Receiver General Manual - Chapter 18 Top of the page Navigation
All listings are comprised of the following elements:
- Company Name and Location
The manufacturer, distributor or rebrander of the product or service, and the location in which the product is manufactured, or service is based.
- Listing Date
Date in which the product, component, or service originally satisfied all program requirements.
- Listing Number
A unique number assigned by Canadian General Standards Board (CGSB) which may be prominently displayed on packaging, literature or adverting regarding the product, component, or service
- Status
Describes the state of the listing, and includes the following:
- Listed
The product, component or service continues to meet all the requirements of the program. Periodically standards are updated and additional information may be added regarding the status of the listing to the transition.
- Under Review
Status is the result of a listed product or component not meeting one or more requirements of the program. This change in status does not affect the ability of a program participant to produce, market and sell products as being either qualified or certified.
- Suspended
The status of the listing may previously have been "Listed" or "Under Review". Once a product, component, service, facility or program participant is suspended, products or components manufactured or services rendered after the effective date cannot be sold as being certified or qualified as the case may be. Once the suspension is lifted, products or components manufactured or services provided after the re-instatement date can be sold as certified or qualified as the case may be. Suspension of a product, component, service, facility or program participant is a temporary situation. There is an expectation, by the CGSB, that required remedial action would be taken. Suspension is an action imposed on the program participant by the CGSB.
- De-listed
The status of the listing may previously have been "Under Review" or "Suspended". Once a product, component, service, facility or program participant is de-listed, products or components manufactured or services rendered after the effective date cannot be sold as being certified or qualified as the case may be. De-listing occurs when there is no expectation, by the CGSB, that remedial action would be taken. De-listing is an action imposed on the program participant by the CGSB.
- Withdrawn
This is a voluntary action taken by the program participant. Once a product, component, service, facility or program participant is withdrawn, products or components manufactured or services rendered after the effective date of withdrawal cannot be sold as being certified or qualified as the case may be.
- Re-Instated
A product, component, service or facility that has been suspended, de-listed or withdrawn, may be re-instated. The program participant must demonstrate, to the satisfaction of the CGSB that all corrective actions required to meet the requirements of the listing program have been met. A product, component, service or facility that has been re-instated may, after the date the re-instatement takes effect, be sold as being certified or qualified as the case may be.
- Description
Each program will have a listing description unique for that industry. The descriptions may include: product name, series, type, model, component breakdown, accessories, price list references, listing limitations, or services provided.
