Renew or terminate your registration in the Controlled Goods Program
Registration in the Controlled Goods Program must be renewed within five years. Learn how to renew or terminate your registration in the program if you or your organization no longer examine, possess or transfer controlled goods.
How to renew registration
Submit an up-to-date application for registration form at least 90 days before your registration expires. You will find the expiry date on your certificate of registration.
If you fail to renew your application before the expiry date, you will need to register again in the Controlled Goods Program.
Renewal of security assessments
Security assessments of individuals are valid for a period of up to five years.
Renewal of individual security assessments must occur before the five year expiry date.

Contact the Controlled Goods Program to submit all completed forms and supporting documentation.
Processing times
The renewal process can take up to 32 business days after receiving the fully completed application for registration form and supporting documentation.
How to terminate registration
You may terminate registration in the Controlled Goods Program if the registered person no longer has a requirement to examine, possess or transfer controlled goods.
An authorized individual must contact the Controlled Goods Program to start the process.
